from the audience, if there is any, and please speak up if there is and identify yourself. We have one question from the text. This is for Dean Taylor. Dean, your star athlete has to do with evidence-based medicine. Star athlete dislocates shoulder, first game of the year. You wanna put him in a brace, get him back? What is the best evidence and the right thing to do? It's a tough question, Eric, because you have to figure out what that patient's priorities are, what the family's priorities are, give them that evidence, and when they say, what are you gonna do, doc? What should I do? I think if they really are in a position to get back and they wanna get back, I think right now, most people would put him in a protective brace and allow him to get back, depending on the sport, but they have to know that there's risk of further damage to both the labrum and to the bone. Thanks, Dean. Is there any questions out there? All right, I think in an effort to go to the next session, then I'll have Rick Rio to do the introductions.
Video Summary
The video transcript features a discussion between Dean Taylor and Eric about evidence-based medicine and the best course of action for a star athlete who has dislocated their shoulder during the first game of the year. They mention the importance of understanding the patient and their family's priorities, and giving them the relevant evidence. Dean suggests that if the patient wants to get back in the game, putting them in a protective brace is the most common approach, but they should be aware of the potential risks to the labrum and bone. The discussion concludes with the announcement that Rick Rio will be doing the introductions for the next session.
