Essentials of the Successful Manuscript


This 20-minute presentation is a recorded capture from The American Journal of Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Journal Reviewers Workshop on July 8, 2021 in Nashville, TN at the AOSSM-AANA Combined Annual Meeting.

 

Michael J. Rossi, MD, MS (Assistant Editor-in-Chief, Arthroscopy) – 

Essentials of the Successful Manuscript outlines the organization and tools needed to produce and critique a successful original article for reviewers, authors, editors, and readers. This talk summarizes the essential ingredients needed as a primer for novice or a review for experienced reviewers and authors.

 

Objectives:                       

  1. To outline the organization and critical parts of a successful research manuscript while highlighting common pitfalls which can be spotted during the peer-review process to improve quality and impact.
  2. To highlight tools to improve a successful manuscript as outlined by Arthroscopy Journal’s Review Templates and Checklists.
  3. To describe attributes to become a top peer reviewer for a high quality international journal.



ACCREDITATION STATEMENT The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA CREDIT DESIGNATION STATEMENT The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CLAIMING CREDIT In order to obtain AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ participants must complete the activity and evaluation. Please note that this is an online-only activity. Participants must complete the activity and evaluation online. No hard copy submissions will be accepted.
