IC 103: Case-Based Diagnosis and Management of Patellofemoral Cartilage Injuries

Course Description:

This case-based course will discuss diagnosis and management of symptomatic patellofemoral cartilage pathology, technical tips and expected outcomes for cartilage restoration, considerations for osteotomies, the impact of trochlear morphology, and patellofemoral arthroplasty. This interactive roundtable discussion will highlight patient selection, restoration versus arthroplasty options and discuss return to activity and sport.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants should be able:

  • To review history, exam, and imaging findings that indicate symptomatic cartilage pathology of the patellofemoral joint.
  • To discuss indications, technical tips, post-operative management, and expected outcomes for patellofemoral cartilage restoration and arthroplasty.
  • To understand the indications, appropriate use, technical tips, post-operative management, and expected outcomes for adjunct procedures in the setting of patellofemoral cartilage injuries.
