AOSSM/NHL Hockey Summit

Emergency Preparedness, Injury Management, and Brain Health Update

Embracing a holistic approach to player safety, mental health, and inclusivity.

This on-demand activity is a recording of the in-person event that occurred in Rosemont Illinois on August 9th and 10th in 2024. It is designed to present a 360-degree view of athlete well-being and includes the Q&As, workshops, and panel discussions. Get ready to dive into critical aspects of hockey injuries, with a spotlight on the nuances of women's hockey and the promotion of equitable practices.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, learners should be able to:

Develop care plans to address primary pre-game readiness, in-game injury, and post-game treatment and recovery factors.
Develop an approach to mental health and performance.
Identify needs of special hockey populations (women and youth), including differences in injury presentation, preventative measures, and holistic health/MSK concerns unique to the demographic.
Apply evidence-based practices on hockey player concussion diagnosis, recovery and return to play decisions.
