AOSSM and ESSKA are proud to present the next installment in the American Journal of Sports Medicine Webinar series: Lateral Extraarticular Tenodesis (LET) in ACL-Reconstruction: From Past to Present”. This recorded webinar aired on March 9, 2022 and features the papers “Revision ACL Reconstruction using BPTB Graft Combined with Modified Lemaire Technique Versus Hamstrings Graft Combined with ALL Reconstruction: A Clinical Comparative Matched Study with a Mean Follow-up of 5 years” and “ACL Reconstruction Combined With the Arnold Coker Modification of the MacIntosh Lateral Extraarticular tenodesis: Long-term Clinical and Radiological Outcomes.” Moderator Eivind Inderhaug and authors Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet and Andrea Ferretti are joined by a panel consisting of Andy Williams and Alan Getgood for a discussion on the emerging role of LET in ACL surgery.
The aim of the webinar is to shed light on new knowledge about extraarticular lateral tenodesis, the use of which have been increasing in recent years. Questions that are raised and discussed include: “Why was the use of tenodesis discontinued historically?” and “What has brought them back into current clinical use?” Further the hallmark “STABILITY” study is presented, and implications of its findings discussed. The study “Revision ACL Reconstruction using BPTB Graft Combined with Modified Lemaire Technique Versus Hamstrings Graft Combined with ALL Reconstruction” and the use of LET in primary ACL reconstruction and for revision cases is also discussed. Finally, surgical approaches and technical aspects in their execution are debated. The recorded webinar concludes with an audience question session on the use of LET to this world-class panel.
