LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

    1. Identify the patient presentation factors that should be considered when diagnosing surgical treatment failure for lateral ankle instability. 

    2. Recognize the importance for the literature to adopt a uniform definition for surgical treatment failure for lateral ankle instability. 

    3. Explain the basic healing pathway and abnormalities for ligaments following injury.
