Title:   IC 108-2023: The Failed Hip Arthroscopy - How To Successfully Manage (and Not Replace) It 


Course Description:
This ICL will discuss the approach to the failed hip arthroscopy, particularly failed (1) FAI surgery - evaluation and treatment (2) capsular defects - arthroscopic repair and arthroscopic reconstruction, (3) management approach to lack of reparable labral tissue including segmental and circumferential labral reconstruction. and (4) when throw away the scope and do a periacetabular osteotomy

 

Learning Objectives:

  • The participant will understand the stepwise approach to evaluating the athlete with a failed hip arthroscopy
  • The participant will understand the options to treat athletes who had prior failed FAI surgery to be able to get them to return to sports
  • The participant will understand the options available for lack of capsular tissue after prior hip arthroscopy procedure
  • The participant will understand the rationale for segmental or circumferential labral reconstruction and optimal graft type
  • The participant will understand the limitations of hip arthroscopy after failed surgery and the expectations of open hip surgery
