IC 105: All You Need to Know about Meniscus Preservation

Course Description:

This course will review key components of meniscal repair and emphasize the importance of meniscus preservation. Indications for meniscus repair versus partial meniscectomy will be discussed. Techniques for repair of complex meniscal tears, including all-inside, inside-out, and outside-in repair, will be examined in a case-based discussion along with unique advantages, disadvantages, and indications for each. Prevention with meniscal centralization will also be reviewed. Finally, meniscus allograft transplantation cases will be presented.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Have better understanding of the role of the meniscus in knee joint health and the importance of meniscus preservation for joint longevity.
  • Understand indications for unique meniscus repair and preservation techniques, specifically relating to the treatment of complex meniscus tears.
