Each presenter discusses a different aspect of starting practice and will provide information from the perspective of a practice manager, the insurance/billing team, and the physician. Moderator and Selected Speakers
Michelle E. Kew, MD is an orthopaedic sports medicine and shoulder surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Assistant Professor at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell. Dr. Kew is a member of the AOSSM Enduring Education Committee and moderator.
Aaron J. Casp, MD is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery in the division of Sports Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Casp is a hip, knee, and shoulder surgeon, as well as the team physician for UAB Athletics, Birmingham Bulls Hockey, Birmingham Legion FC, and the US Ski and Snowboard Team.
S. Evan Carstensen, MD is a board-certified, sports medicine fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Carstensen is currently a partner of Alabama Bone and Joint in Birmingham, AL.
Kerry Sullivan, MHA has been the practice manager for Dr. Samuel Taylor going into their 9th year in practice and has over 20 years of healthcare administrative experience having worked in behavioral health as well as NY Presbyterian. Kerry completed her undergraduate degree at Pace University and has recently completed her Masters in Healthcare Administration.
Brian Graybow, MBA is the Assistant Vice President, Physician Central Billing Office, at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) where he leads the billing operations for over 200 providers generating $140 million per year, oversees over 65 employees, leverages billing partners, and manages key performance indicators. His 20+ year career has touched all aspects of the physician revenue cycle in roles spanning across health insurance companies, private equity-backed medical practices, and academic medical centers in the New York City area. He holds a B.S. in Health Care Management from Towson University and an M.B.A. in Business Administration/Health Care Administration from Baruch College.
