LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

Describe the incidence of posttraumatic osteoarthritis after anterior cruciate ligament injury in human patients and the risk of future total knee arthroplasty in these patients.
Explain the current basic science evidence of doxycycline for the prevention of posttraumatic osteoarthritis after anterior cruciate ligament rupture/transection.
Detail the molecular changes that occur after doxycycline treatment with regard to the articular cartilage.
