CC2023: Sports-Related Concussion Affects Cognitive Function in Adolescents: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (November 2023)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to: 

1. Identify the cognitive domains commonly affected by sports-related concussion in adolescents and describe the potential impact on academic and daily functioning. 

2. Develop a concussion management plan for an adolescent athlete that includes appropriate cognitive and physical rest, gradual return to play protocol, and coordination with healthcare providers and school personnel. 

3. Recognize the risk factors associated with prolonged recovery after concussion in adolescents, and describe the potential consequences of repeated concussions.
