AJSM Webinar Series - June 2022: Updates on Telemedicine in Sports Medicine
Course Information

We are proud to present the next installment in the American Journal of Sports Medicine webinar series: Updates on Telemedicine in Sports Medicine. This recorded webinar aired on June 27, 2022 and includes discussion of the considerations for implementing telemedicine into a sports medicine practice, the current legal and regulatory considerations for orthopaedic telemedicine, the role of a virtual examination, and the current advances and future directions in the application of telemedicine in the field of sports medicine.  Moderator Miho J. Tanaka and panelists Robert Gallo, Richard Chad Mather III*, and Alfred Atanda discuss the applications of orthopaedic telemedicine in a sports medicine practice.

The aim of the webinar is to update the viewer on current considerations in the rapidly evolving area of orthopaedic telemedicine.  Since the onset of the pandemic, the role of orthopaedic telemedicine has greatly expanded, yet the capabilities, utilization, and regulatory considerations continue to evolve.  Topics discussed include: “What is the best way to implement telemedicine into my sports medicine practice?” and “What are the current regulatory considerations that I should know in doing so?” Furthermore, we will discuss the orthopaedic virtual examination as well as advances and future directions of the role of telemedicine in our field.  The recorded webinar concludes with an audience question session on telemedicine and considerations for implementation to this experienced panel.

*Please note, the content of Dr. Mather's talk was given by Dr. Gallo
