Course Overview:

This module will prepare the sports medicine community to effectively handle high-risk, low-frequency non-musculoskeletal emergencies that occur during sports events. Through a combination of microlearning and simulation-based activities, learners will acquire critical skills and knowledge necessary to improve athlete health outcomes under pressure.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize and Prepare for High-Risk, Non-Musculoskeletal Emergencies: Identify and anticipate critical sideline emergencies beyond musculoskeletal injuries, including cardiac, intra-abdominal, intra-thoracic, and head/facial trauma incidents.
  • Respond Confidently with Quick-Response Protocols: Build confidence in assessing, prioritizing, and executing rapid interventions to manage high-stakes emergencies effectively.
  • Apply Scenario-Based Learning to Real-World Situations: Practice decision-making and emergency response in realistic scenarios to enhance readiness for real-life sideline emergencies.
