Kremen, Jr. MD presents his talk “My AOSSM Young Investigator Grant Experience, Subsequent Steppingstones, & Ongoing Work.” This offering is available on-demand for you to view at your convenience.

In this talk Dr. Kremen offers an overview of the AOSSM Young Investigator Grant (YIG) application process, his YIG project and the challenges navigated while completing his YIG project. In addition, he reviews some of the research and funding opportunities that arose as a result of his YIG work. Dr. Kremen also illustrates how the YIG award was an essential catalyst in the initiation of his post-fellowship research career.


 
 

Thomas J. Kremen, Jr. MD

Dr. Kremen is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a certificate of added qualification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He completed both his medical school degree and his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Training at the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) at UCLA. He then completed subspeciality training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at Duke University. He is currently an Assistant Professor-in-Residence in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the DGSOM at UCLA. Clinically, Dr. Kremen has served as team physician for numerous organizations including US Men's National Team Soccer, LA Galaxy (MLS), USA Basketball, and the USA Olympic Swimming Teams. He currently serves as a team physician for the UCLA Bruins NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics teams, the chair of USA Swimming's Sports Medicine and Science Committee, and the associate team physician for the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA). From a research standpoint, Dr. Kremen’s work focuses on improving soft tissue-to-bone healing, regenerative medicine, and therapeutic approaches to mitigate the risk of post-traumatic osteoarthritis after orthopaedic injuries. He was a AOSSM YIG award winner in 2015.
