Dr. J. Brett Goodloe is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon who subspecializes in sports medicine and arthroscopy. He joined the VCU Orthopedic Surgery Department in 2023 after completing his Sports Medicine Fellowship Training at the University of Virginia. His sports medicine practice focuses on arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, knee and hip. He also specializes in the throwing elbow and has seen his practice grow tremendously in regard to treatment of baseball and softball athletes. In addition to his clinical duties, he works as the Head Team Physician for Longwood University and Virginia Union University. He is also the Head Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the Richmond Flying Squirrels, a minor league affiliate for the San Francisco Giants. He serves as a consulting orthopedic surgeon for Randolph Macon College, Richard Bland University, the College of William and Mary and offers many services for Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Goodloe is very active in mentorship and serves as an Academic Coach for the Medical School, holds his own 4th Year Sports Medicine elective and is an active member in the Vap Research group. He is involved with the two premier Orthopedic Sports Medicine associations, American Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Association of North America, holding membership and active committee roles in each. He has nearly 80 combined publications and academic presentations over the past 3 years as well as textbook chapters and is the chief editor of a recent edition in Clinics of Sports Medicine. Dr. Goodloe is most passionate about doing excellent work and providing thoughtful care for his patients. He demonstrates a tenacious attitude for improvement and desires to be a national leader in the growing field of sports medicine. The most exciting current prospect of his job is the recent accreditation of a Sports Medicine Fellowship program which will allow for growth in mentorship, training, and skill development.

Dr. Conor N. O'Neill is an orthopaedic sports medicine and foot & ankle surgeon at Duke University Health System. His clinical practice focuses on sports-related injuries of the foot, ankle, and knee, including ankle instability, cartilage restoration, ligament reconstruction, limb alignment and complex athletic injuries. Dr. O'Neill has specialized fellowship training in both Sports Medicine and Foot & Ankle Surgery, allowing him to provide comprehensive care for athletes across all levels of competition. His research interests include sports foot and ankle injuries, cartilage restoration, lower extrmity alignment and optimizing outcomes following orthopaedic surgery. |

Dr. Cooper is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Virginia. He specializes in foot and ankle conditions, with particular interest in sports injuries and ankle arthroplasty. He has served as team physician to James Madison University, and provides care to many other college and elite athletes from around the region. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the Ohio State University, and a Foot and Ankle Fellowship under Dr. Michael Coughlin in Boise, ID.

Dr. Daniel Scott is a board certified orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon and Associate Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is also the fellowship director of the Medical University of South Carolina Foot and Ankle Fellowship. Dr. Scott has extensive experience in total ankle replacements, sports injuries in athletes, post-traumatic reconstruction, and complex deformity correction as well as advanced minimally invasive and joint preserving treatment options.
As a native of the Carolinas, Dr. Scott graduated with a combined MD and MBA degree from Duke University, and went on to complete an orthopaedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center. Following this, he completed a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. While at Duke, he was a resident team physician for Duke University athletics, as well as North Carolina Central and Northern High School.
Throughout his training, Dr. Scott has received numerus awards for leadership and research. He has been published extensively in a multitude of nationally renowned peer reviewed journals and has been selected as a reviewer for multiple journals including Foot and Ankle International. His work has been presented at numerous local, regional, national, and international meetings.

Dr. Kevin Martin - Over his 22-year career in the U.S. Army, he developed strong leadership skills while gaining a deep appreciation for the challenges faced by wounded service members living with devastating foot and ankle injuries. Caring for these soldiers was a tremendous honor and laid the foundation for his career at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
He is an orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic procedures. Passionate about advancing patient care and developing innovative surgical techniques, he is dedicated to treating lower extremity injuries that can significantly impact mobility and quality of life. He approaches each patient by listening carefully to understand their goals, expectations, and individual needs before developing a personalized treatment plan.
Growing up on a farm, he greatly valued the opportunities that enabled him to pursue a career in medicine. Committed to paying those opportunities forward, he actively mentors residents and medical students, providing meaningful involvement in both research and clinical activities. He has also helped develop orthopedic surgical simulation training programs designed to enhance patient safety while giving residents a safe, supportive environment to build their skills and confidence. He believes mentorship is essential, recognizing that balancing faith, family, friendships, and a medical career can be challenging, and that strong mentors make that journey more manageable.
As a professor at The Ohio State University, he remains at the forefront of orthopedic medicine by conducting and publishing research, adopting innovative surgical techniques, and educating fellow surgeons as an Associate Master Instructor of Arthroscopy.

Dr. Norman E. Waldrop, III, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
He specializes in the treatment of sports-related injuries, arthroscopy, and traumatic and post-traumatic conditions of the foot and ankle, providing comprehensive care for athletes and active patients at all levels.
Dr. Waldrop is highly sought after for advanced foot and ankle procedures, including ankle arthroscopy, Achilles tendon repair, syndesmotic (high ankle) sprain repair using tight-rope fixation, Lisfranc injury stabilization, and turf toe repair.
A significant portion of Dr. Waldrop’s practice is dedicated to elite and high-performance athletes. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Waldrop serves as a team physician and orthopaedic consultant for the New Orleans Saints and the University of Alabama. He also serves as an orthopaedic consultant for Jacksonville State University, Samford University, Troy University, and the University of West Alabama, as well as several local high schools, reinforcing his longstanding involvement in professional, collegiate, and community sports medicine.
Dr. Waldrop maintains a strong academic and research focus on sports-related foot and ankle injuries and traumatic injuries of the lower extremities. He has presented research at national meetings for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), and the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), and has authored multiple book chapters on foot and ankle topics.
Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Dr. Waldrop earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Virginia before returning to Alabama to obtain his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham.
He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he developed a strong interest in foot and ankle surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Anderson and Dr. Hodges Davis. He then completed a foot and ankle fellowship at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado, training under Dr. Thomas Clanton.
Dr. Waldrop and his wife, Meredith, have two sons, Cort and Robert. Outside of medicine, he enjoys golfing, skiing, fishing, and spending time with his family.
