IC 304: How to Incorporate Orthobiologics in your Practice: Safe, Effective, and Ethical

Course Description:

This ICL will cover the incorporation of Orthobiologics into the practitioners' practice, including current basic science and effective and ethical treatment options, understanding the current FDA regulations regarding clinical requirements for use of orthobiologics, and safe approaches for billing for orthobiologic practices in the office. The elite faculty in this ICL are in a unique position to contribute to the AOSSM participants' understanding of these critical concepts.

Learning Objectives:

  • At the conclusion of this ICL, the participant will understand the regulatory aspects of the use of orthobiologics and be able to navigate the basic federal regulations regarding clinical application of these products.
  • At the conclusion of this ICL, the participant will understand the basic science and clinical research supporting the ethical use of orthobiologics.
  • At the conclusion of this ICL, the participant will understand how to legally prescribe and bill for orthobiologic treatments in their practice to improve patient care.


With the recent development of a plethora of orthobiologics available to the practicing orthopedist, understanding the safe, ethical, and legal aspects of prescribing these products to our patients is key.
