This course includes the recording of a live Instructional Course from the 2025 AOSSM Annual Meeting.IC 11-2025 Everything You Need to Know to Perform Successful Shoulder Arthroplasty: Preoperative Planning, TSA, RTSA and Revision Arthroplasty (CME)
Course Description:
Shoulder arthroplasty has become a more common procedure among sports surgeons. While many sports surgeons are well versed in shoulder arthroplasty, there have been significant advancements made in preoperative planning as well as implant position over the last several years that can impact outcomes. The purpose of this ICL is to first discuss preoperative planning in shoulder arthroplasty, review the pros and cons, and make sure the attendees are comfortable with various planning software. The ICL will then review how to properly translate the plan to the OR for both anatomic and reverse shoulder arthroplasty. The instructors will provide their algorithms for successful TSA and RTSA. We will then review revision shoulder arthroplasty and touch on several preoperative planning and operative pearls to help make this surgery less intimidating. Finally, the panel will discuss several cases in an interactive format with the attendees.
Learning Objectives:
Utilize preoperative planning tools and software to optimize implant positioning and surgical execution in shoulder arthroplasty.
Effectively translate preoperative plans into the operating room for both TSA and RTSA procedures.
Implement evidence-based surgical algorithms for successful TSA and RTSA.
Develop strategies to approach and execute revision shoulder arthroplasty with greater confidence.
