IC 06-2025 Practical Surgical Augmentation of Rotator Cuff Repair Using Biologics (CME)

Course Description:

Despite continued technical improvements in rotator cuff repair, healing rates have plateaued. As a result, a variety of approaches have been proposed to augment the rotator cuff repair healing response. This Instructional Course Lecture will provide attendees with current approaches to cell-based biologic augmentation of rotator cuff repair. Lectures from experts in different methods of biologic augmentation will highlight a variety of current augmentation strategies, with a focus on basic science rationale for use of biologics in rotator cuff repair, clinical evidence regarding their use, and technical tips to implement strategies into practice. Techniques discussed include bone marrow aspirate concentrate, platelet-rich plasma, enthesis augmentation, microfragmented lipoaspirate tissue, and subacromial bursa reimplantation. At the completion of the lectures, ample time for questions and discussion permit further in-depth learning.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
  • Attendees will be able to describe different methods for cell-based biologic augmentation of rotator cuff repair and how to incorporate them into clinical practice.
