The American Journal of Sports Medicine is proud to present the next installment in the American Journal of Sports Medicine Webinar series: "AC Joint Dislocation - State of the Art in 2023.” Dislocation of the AC joint is one of the most common acute shoulder injuries in sports. Treatment options still remain controversial worldwide. Despite an increasing number of studies, there are many controversies regarding diagnosis, classification, best initial treatment, and universally accepted and validated injury specific outcome scores. The international faculty of this AJSM live webinar consists of Berte Boe (Norway), Peter Millett (US), Augustus Mazzocca (US), Johannes Barth (France), Alexander van Tongel (Belgium), Markus Scheibel (Switzerland) and will be moderated by Knut Beitzel (Germany).

The aim of the webinar is to discuss the recent developments of decision making regarding indication, conservative treatment options, surgical technique, and revision strategy. Join our faculty of worldwide experts in their case-based discussion and learn from their answers to these important questions.

FACULTY

Knut Beitzel, MD, MA,  is a Specialist in Shoulder Surgery who is Head of Shoulder Surgery and Orthopaedic Sportsmedicine at ATOS Orthoparc Clinic, Cologne, Germany, and a Professor at the Technical University of Munich.

Johannes Barth, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon working in a private hospital in the Grenoble area. His main clinical interests are shoulder and knee arthroscopy with an emphasis on sports injuries. He is the past-president of the Francophone Society of Arthroscopy and a member of the SOFCOT, SECEC, ESSKA, and ISAKOS.

Berte Bøe, MD, PhD, is a Knee and Shoulder Surgeon and Head of the Arthroscopy Unit, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, Oslo University Hospital, Norway. She is President of the Norwegian Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow and Vice-General Secretary of ESSKA.

Augustus D. Mazzocca MS, MD FAAOS,FAOA, is Medical Director of Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine, Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine Mass General Hospital , and professor of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Harvard Medical School. He is Professor Emeritus at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery UCONN School of Medicine.

Peter J. Millett, MD, MSc, is an orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at The Steadman Clinic and the Chief Medical Officer of the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, Vail, Colorado. A longtime member of AOSSM, he currently serves on the Board of Geisel Medical School at Dartmouth and is an Ambassador for the US Ski Team.

Markus Scheibel, MD, is Head of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Schulthess Klinic, Zurich, Switzerland, and is the Secretary and former President of the German Association for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

Alexander Van Tongel, PhD, is a Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon, Director of Clinical Research Orthopedics and Traumatology Department UZ Gent, University of Ghent, Gent Belgium.

Explain the rationale for conservative vs. operative treatment of AC joint instability
Differentiate between various surgical treatment methods and their specific indication
Describe the timing of surgical procedures with specific focus on in season athletes
