Almost 60% of adults stay active by running, with the number of people participating in organized races increasing by 50% over the past decade. Despite its surge in popularity, injuries associated with running are common, with many participants having a poor understanding of how to progress training loads appropriately to adequately prepare for the sport. We have gathered a world-class faculty to weigh in on this topic, including Tim Gabbett, Brett Toresdahl, Adam Tenforde, and Barry Boden.

The webinar aims to provide the latest comprehensive knowledge on running injuries, from appropriate physical preparation and load management to epidemiology, etiology, and treatments for specific conditions (e.g. soft-tissue injuries, tendinopathies, bone stress injuries). FACULTY

	MODERATOR Professor Tim Gabbett has 30 years experience working as a performance consultant for several high performance organizations around the world. He holds a PhD in Human Physiology and has completed a second PhD in Applied Sport Science, with special reference to physical demands, injury prevention, and skill acquisition. Tim has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles and has presented at over 400 national and international conferences. In a recent study of 8 million scientists published in PLoS Biology, Tim was named in the Top 10 most impactful sport scientists of all time.
	Dr. Tenforde is an associate professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School. He is director of running medicine at the Spaulding National Running Center – one of the only centers in the United States exclusively dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of running-related injuries. Dr. Tenforde has the unique perspective of being both a doctor and a former professional runner who was an All-American at Stanford University where he contributed to three NCAA National Team Championships and later qualified for the Olympic trials. Dr. Tenforde’s research has focused on the evaluation of biological and biomechanical risk factors for stress fractures and other running injuries. He is also investigating how to prevent injuries in athletes.
	Dr. Brett Toresdahl is an associate professor of orthopaedics at the University of Utah. He completed medical school, family medicine residency, and a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Washington. He then joined the medical staff at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York where he was research director for the Primary Sports Medicine Service for almost 10 years. He is the head team physician for US Biathlon and served as a physician at three Olympic Games – Rio 2016, PyeongChang 2018, and Beijing 2022. Dr. Toresdahl is active in running medicine research as the principal investigator of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Runner Health Consortium. His publication on strength training in runners of the New York City Marathon was awarded the T. David Sisk Awards for Research Excellence for Best Original Research. As a native of Montana, he enjoys staying active outdoors with his family by running, biking, skiing, and snowboarding.
	Dr. Barry P. Boden specializes in Sports Medicine at The Orthopaedic Center division of Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics in Rockville and Germantown, Maryland. He provides complete care for athletes of all ages and specializes in shoulder and knee conditions.  Dr. Boden offers non-operative treatment modalities for many injuries as well as state of the art arthroscopic techniques for rotator cuff, shoulder instability, meniscal, and ACL injuries.  He has served as the team physician for the athletes at Montgomery College and on the medical staff for US Soccer.  Dr. Boden is a consultant at the NIH and a Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He has published numerous articles on ACL injuries, prevention of catastrophic sports injuries and bone stress injuries. Dr. Boden was the recipient of the Orthopaedic Research Education Award in 2021 and has lectured at numerous international, national, and local conferences.
