ABOS Boards Part 2: How to Prepare for Test Day

This webinar is designed to support sports medicine orthopaedic surgeons in their first year of practice as they prepare for the ABOS Part 2 Examination. The session will begin with a brief overview of the exam structure and case collection timeline. The primary focus will be on strategies for efficient case documentation, including how to organize records and prepare patient summaries after case selection. The webinar will conclude with practical guidance on test-day preparation and best practices for presenting cases effectively during the oral examination.

MODERATOR

Michelle E. Kew, MD is an orthopaedic sports medicine and shoulder surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Assistant Professor at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell. Dr. Kew is a member of the AOSSM Enduring Education Committee .

 




Ryan C. Rauck, MD is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, specializing in shoulder surgery and sports medicine. He also serves as a team physician for Ohio State football.  
   

 

 





Ryan P. Roach, MD, MS, FAAOS, FAOA  is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Florida, specializing in sports medicine surgery. Serves as Team Physician for the Florida Gators and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). Vice Chair of Quality and member on the AOSSM Education Committee. 

 

 


 

 

 

Yianni M. Apostolakos, MD, MPH, is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine and shoulder surgeon at University Hospitals. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Apostolakos specializes in the treatment of acute and chronic conditions of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. 

Dr. Apostolakos has published numerous peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters and has presented these findings at the local, regional and national level. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Hospital for Special Surgery Journal and is an active reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, and the Journal of Orthopedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation. In addition, Dr. Apostolakos holds active memberships in the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Shoulder and Elbow Society, Arthroscopy Assosciation of North America, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. 

Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Dr. Apostolakos completed his medical school education at the University of Connecticut. Following medical school, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. Following residency, Dr. Apostolakos completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado. 

Dr. Apostolakos currently serves as the Head Orthopaedic Surgeon for multiple high schools in Northeast Ohio and Baldwin Wallace University. He is an Associate Team Physician for the Cleveland Browns.

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
