Back to course
Pdf Summary
The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine return to work after primary hip arthroscopy and factors associated with the ability and time to return to work. The review included 12 studies with a total of 1,124 patients. The average rate of return to any work after hip arthroscopy was 71.35%, while the rate of full return to previous work duties was 50.89%. On average, the time to return to work was 115 days.

The analysis also looked at the impact of workers' compensation status and the type of work performed on return to work. Patients with workers' compensation status had a return to work rate of 85.15%, but the average time to return was longer at 132 days. The analysis also showed a higher rate of return to work in patients with light (sedentary) professions compared to those with strenuous professions.

The findings suggest that after hip arthroscopy, there is a high rate of return to work, but only half of patients achieve full return to work duties. The results provide valuable information for patients undergoing hip arthroscopy and can help set realistic expectations for postoperative recovery and return to work.
