Video Summary
The video presentation discusses a study on the clinical outcomes following UCL surgery in two different groups of athletes: non-throwing athletes and throwing athletes from sports other than baseball. The study aims to evaluate clinical outcomes, complications, return to the operating room, and return to play rates in these athletes. The researchers conducted a retrospective analysis using a large elbow registry and included patients with a minimum two-year follow-up. The study found that both non-throwing athletes and non-baseball throwing athletes demonstrated excellent post-operative outcomes and high return-to-play rates, similar to baseball players. The researchers hope this study lays the groundwork for future studies in these athletes. Credits were given to the team in Birmingham for their exceptional registry and data analysis infrastructure.
