We're all athletes at heart, and all elements of human movement are really athletic function. AOSSM gives us that ability to relate all elements of athletic function. The AOSSM treats the athlete of any level, whether it's an Olympic competitive athlete or the weekend warrior or a youth sports athlete, by really investing in research focused on all types of athletes. The research that goes on is so impressive and allows me to apply things that I really rigorously looked at to be able to put that into practice with these athletes or these active people. I really appreciate that with AOSSM. When I'm seeing a patient and they ask me, how can I get back, when can I get back, what can I expect? There's not a day that goes by and really not a patient that I see that I don't think of something that I've learned from AOSSM, whether it's through a journal article in AJSM or Sports Health, or if there's a conference that I've been to. The annual meeting just gets you excited about sports medicine. What you learn is amazing. The accessibility of people and the organization is just a great community. What always amazes me is the engagement of the leadership of the society. When they come to that table, they're usually people that are very famous in their own right, very accomplished, different stages of their career. But when they're at that table, they're just thinking about, what can I do for the society? What can I do for sports medicine? I think the thread that runs through AOSSM is scientific collaboration, cutting edge techniques, professionalism and collegiality, academic excellence, passion, moving in the same direction for a goal, the camaraderie and the mentorship, helping each other along the way. Education. Commitment to excellence. Research. Family. Friendship and fellowship. New and innovative ways to leverage technology. Strong leadership. Being a better sports medicine physician. And get patients back to what they love to do. Welcome to the AOSSM 2023 Annual Meeting. Please give a warm round of applause to your president, Dr. Mark Miller. So welcome to the 2023 AOSSM Annual Meeting. It's our 51st meeting, LI. Thank you for joining our celebration of education, community and future of our field. More than 2,000 orthopedic surgeons, though you wouldn't know it from this room, sports medicine experts and other disciplines and industry and guests have traveled to our nation's capital from around the world. And we have a great four days planned for you. Please join me in a round of applause for our program chairs, Dr. Stephen Brockmeyer and Dr. Robin West. Before we begin, I'd like to share a few highlights from today's agenda that you won't want to miss. We're proud to have many partners with us this week. We will gain a new perspective in sessions from the Forum, ESCA, SLARD and ISACOS, including today's 3.30 general session, Global All-Stars of Orthoscopy. Throughout the week, the J. Robert Gladden Society and the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons, amongst others, will host meetings and receptions that bring colleagues together. We are grateful to the many organizations that share our vision and mission to keep our patients in the game. Our exhibit hall is the largest in the country dedicated to sports medicine. Over 85 companies are waiting for you with the latest tools and technology to enhance your practice and improve your patient care. Today at 10 o'clock, the hall will host the annual Masters competition, where your peers will present their high-impact innovations. CU takes home the coveted red jacket. And while you're there, stop by the Member Resource Center to get your AOSM-branded apparel, renew your membership, and hear a live recording from the Easy Rider podcast. Our opening night party will be in the hall at 4.30. Have a bite and chat and reconnect with your colleagues. Or challenge them to a pickleball match or a golf simulator. And I forgot the most important part. Lunch will be served in the hall today and every day, Friday and Saturday. You'll see me on the stage again tomorrow at 10.45 for our Vice President's presentation of our highest honor, the Leach Award, followed by Presidential Guest Speaker Eric Bowles, former NFL player. And at 2.30, I hope you'll join me for my Presidential Address and the Medallion Exchange. I'm also moderating a game-changer session on leadership on Saturday morning at 10.45 with Special Guest General Ed Rice. Make sure to download the meeting app that's on the back with this QR code on your badge. For locations, times, speaker bios, and slides, the exhibit hall schedule, and much, much more. It's the best way to make sure that you stay in the game here in D.C. And now, please stand if you're able and welcome representatives from the Armed Forces for the presentation of colors and the singing of the National Anthem.
