Video Summary
This video presentation is about a study comparing the effects of excessive trunk tilt in high school and professional baseball pitchers. While contralateral trunk tilt has been extensively studied, the effects of ipsilateral trunk tilt have not been explored. The study compared the direction of lateral trunk tilt and evaluated differences in kinetic and kinematic parameters in pitchers with excessive ipsilateral and contralateral trunk tilt. Data was retrieved from a database and analyzed using motion capture technology. The results showed that professional pitchers demonstrated more ipsilateral trunk tilt early in the throwing motion, which may be an advantageous adaptation for high-level pitching. Further research is needed to determine if trunk tilt impacts the risk of injury.
